Actress Gautami, who has displayed leanings towards the ruling BJP at the Centre, has been appointed as a member of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).In a major revamp of the top Censor body, the Centre brought in many changes in the much-criticized Board’s organizational setup.
Pahlaj Nihalani, who was serving as the chairman from 2015, was sacked from the post and was replaced by popular lyricist Prasoon Joshi. The entire film industry in all languages across the country must have heaved a huge sigh of relief with the exit of Nihlani and the entry of Joshi.
It was earlier speculated that national award-winning Bollywood starlet Vidya Balan would be appointed as a member of the Board. However, as it turned out, it was the Tamil-Telugu actress Gautami, has now been appointed as a member.
